I’m 1/4 Irish and proud of it! Visiting the house where my great grandfather was born, in County Clare, was a real treat for me a few years ago.
St. Patrick’s Day is only a little more than a week away and the annual celebrating will begin again for many.
Shamrock sugar cookies and a green milkshake could make the kids (and adults) really happy.
What do you think of when you think “Irish”? These are familiar symbols: The color green, Shamrocks, Limericks, Guinness beer, Green beer, Irish coffee, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Leprechauns, a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, Rugged coastlines with fog and rain, friendly people, Irish dancing and lively music.
Here are some pictures that will give you inspiration:
As an Interior Designer, you would expect me to decorate for the event, so here is a cute table all ready to party!
We always look forward to a great big pot of corned beef and cabbage at our house each year. I wish I would remember to serve it more during the year too but the stores don’t always carry corned beef all year round.
Chocolate mint cookies and cupcakes along with some Bailey’s Irish Creme Ice cream sound good to me!
Of course there is the King of Irish beer, Guinness, and the American version of green beer to start off the celebrating with.
Looking for a pot of gold coins at the end of the rainbow? Isn’t this fun? It’s worth the extra trouble and time to make these colorful cupcakes by layering different colored batter into the tins.
And of course, you have to serve Irish coffee! There are several different recipes out there but this one with Kahlua in it is one of my favorites. I leave off the Creme de Mynthe but you can modify the recipe as you like.
