Well, actually mirrors are on the walls, furniture, and much more these days. They can be used to create moods, add sparkle and alter perspectives in a room.
Here a pair of old doors were fitted with mirrors and leaned up against the wall to mimic French Doors.

Mirrors can be used outside too - it's best to use acrylic mirrors when they are exposed outdoors.
A full wall mirror visually expands a room. In this case the wall of mirror behind the left half of sectional makes the room appear much longer and brighter.
Here a traditional mirrored floor screen is antiqued and softly fills an empty corner.
This is a more contemporary version of a mirrored floor screen.
Different sized and shaped mirrors can be hung to create an interesting wall arrangement.
This functional mirror in a closet brightens the space.
A mirrored back wall behind glass shelves makes for dramatic displays, especially if lit. This treatment also works great for bars.
Here is an example of a floor mirror which happens to also have a mirrored frame. The large size of these mirrors makes them quite dramatic. Be sure to securely fasten them to the wall, even if they look like they are casually resting against it.
Here a foyer is enhanced by using wall to wall mirror behind an exquisite and dramatic table.
